Their single cask grey box range is selling out quite quickly and simply put, damn good whisky that has been led by a great distiller who now gets more and more right as time passes. Off the cuff age statements, single casking with some deep brown natural colouring. We are all a huge fan here! Imparting aromas of redcurrants, dried cherry and cinnamon on the nose, leading to rich dried fruit, punctuated by baking spice and citrus oils.

Tasting Notes
Nose : Creme Brulee, Rich Oak, Ex Sherry Notes

Palate : Big, Very Big. A malty undertone adds some textural quality to the palate while delicate fruits rise above. Under the new ownership of the GlenAllachie Distillery Company however fermentation times have been lengethened, lending the spirit a fruitier, and more muscular quality. Peated runs now account for 20% of production, although peated GlenAllachie won't appear on shelves for a number of years yet.

One of the results of the US-fuelled 1960s whisky boom, GlenAllachie was built in 1967 by Scottish & Newcastle Breweries’ distilling subsidiary, Mackinlays. It is notable for being one of the distilleries designed by William Delmé-Evans who was also behind Macduff, Tullibardine and Jura.

In 1985, Mackinlays became part of own-label specialist Invergordon Distillers which flipped Glenallachie to Campbell Distillers/Pernod Ricard four years later, during most of which it had been mothballed.

It has only very rarely been seen as a single malt bottling – most notably as part of Chivas Brothers’ Cask Strength series.

In July 2017, it was announced that Chivas Brothers had agreed to sell GlenAllachie to The GlenAllachie Distillers Company, operated by former BenRiach MD Billy Walker, ex-Inver House Distillers MD Graham Stevenson and Trisha Savage. A capital ‘A’ was added to the distillery name, in keeping with the changes Walker made to BenRiach and GlenDronach under his stewardship.

The new owners are in the process of relaunching GlenAllachie as a distillery known for its ‘big’, fruity malt whisky. Six single cask bottlings were released in April 2018, with GlenAllachie’s first core range of single malts set for launch in June 2018.

About North Star Spirits

Astronomy plays a massive part in the storytelling narrative of our core whisky range. Our vision is reflected in our company name. The North Star is the anchor of the northern sky. It is a landmark, or sky marker, that helps those who follow it determine direction as it glows brightly to guide and lead toward a purposeful destination. It also has a symbolic meaning, for the North Star depicts a beacon of inspiration and hope to many. North Star focuses its energies on the curiosities, peculiar oddities, and obscurities - whisky as it comes, straight from the cask and into a bottle - without any fancy tricks.

56.5% ABV

70cl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0941/9495/8661/files/4434505874_427180af-eb9a-4363-8a1e-e449c4fdce9c.jpg?v=1746551986
https://b1yyjg-bk.myshopify.com/products/north-star-spirits-glenallachie-11-year-old-single-cask-series-23-2023-70cl
