It was initially matured in ex-bourbon casks before being transferred over to casks that had previously held rum from the Americas. The result pits the classic savoury smoke of Ardbeg's spirit against the bright, fruity notes introduced by the rum casks - a wonderfully tasty juxtaposition! This is the Committee Release of Ardbeg Drum, which has been bottled at 52% ABV.

Released in celebration of the beloved Feis Ile festival, on the last day of which colourfully adorned Islay residents would parade from the picturesque village of Port Ellen right past the gates of Ardbeg distillery, Drum offers a perfect way to mark the occasion. Matured in American bourbon and rum casks, eventually bottled with ripe notes of banana and a lingering smoky finish

Tasting Notes

Nose : Bonfire wood smoke intertwines with earthy pine, as sweeter tropical aromas of ripe banana, banana bread and pineapple come to the fore. But Whisky was distilled there long before that. There are no documentations, as Ardbeg was an illegal business back in 1794. The distillery is now owned by LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy), which also owns Glenmorangie distillery in the Highlands of Scotland. The current capacity is just over one million litres per annum and its water source is Loch Uigeadail, after which one of its famous releases is named.

52% ABV
70cl

https://b1yyjg-bk.myshopify.com/products/ardbeg-drum-committee-release-limited-edition-islay-single-malt-scotch-whisky-2018-70cl
